Total Addressable Market (TAM)
The overall revenue opportunity that is available to a product or service if 100% market share was achieved.
TAM is used by founders, investors, and sales leaders to size a market opportunity. It is typically broken down into:
• TAM — Total Addressable Market (full universe) • SAM — Serviceable Addressable Market (geographic/segment subset you can reach) • SOM — Serviceable Obtainable Market (realistic near-term share)
